Dear UCA Family,
This weekend we are welcoming former students and staff to our campus for Alumni Homecoming. We look forward to connecting with old friends and meeting new ones! Alumni registration begins at 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium, followed by Vespers at 7:30 p.m. The speaker for church on Sabbath is pastor Greg Griffitts, class of 1978. Sabbath services begin in the gymnasium at 10:00 a.m., followed by lunch, also in the gymnasium. Class meetings will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Campbell Administration Building, with class pictures taken in front of the building during the class meetings. Campus tours will be starting at 3:00 p.m. on the steps of the Campbell Administration Building. On Sunday, September 30, there will be an Alumni flag football game on the UCA Field at 9:00 a.m., and a free breakfast served at 10:00 a.m. on the UCA Field. COLLEGE PREP TIP FROM WALLA WALLA UNIVERSITY
Pay attention to your grades. Most colleges pay attention to cumulative grades. That means your grades throughout high school can have an impact on your admissions and scholarships. At Walla Walla University, that could mean up to $50,000 over four years. If you’re struggling with a class, talk with your teachers about what resources may be available to help you at your school. Take school seriously. Managing your time wisely can have a big pay-off. Wondering how to pay for college? Not sure where to start? Our online guide makes it easier than ever to get answers, find resources, and get insider tips on how to keep college costs and loans down. Visit wallawalla.edu/payforcollege. Juniors—Shoot for the moon and take the PSAT. If you want to aim for National Merit Scholar, you must take the PSAT in mid-October of your junior year. Check out scheduled test dates at your school and sign up to take the PSAT. Many colleges offer very generous scholarships for finalists.
