STUDENT WEEK OF PRAYER – DAY STUDENTS AND PARENTS
Student Week of Prayer begins next Monday, February 13. There are only evening meetings, so a regular class schedule will be used. The evening meeting is not required for day students, but as Student Week of Prayer is such a highlight of our school year, we encourage you to attend. We know you will not be disappointed. SWOP will meet in the church beginning at 6:40 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Remember it is Week of Prayer dress for week meetings, and Vespers dress on Friday night, for all students.
Student Week of Prayer, February 13-17, will be live-streamed. To view each meeting, please go to: www.ucaa.org/swoplive. The attached This Week at UCA – 2/10/17 shows who will be speaking for each meeting. ENJOY!
HOPE DAY – ATTENTION DAY STUDENTS
Next Thursday, February 16, is HOPE Taskforce Day! Our entire school, including staff, will go into Spangle and the surrounding communities to serve people in a variety of projects for about 4 hours in the morning or the afternoon. There will be no work or classes that day.
Students working on a project in Downtown Spokane and Spokane Valley who would like to ride the UCA bus, please sign up at the front office by next Wednesday, to be picked up/dropped off at Yokes (former Trading Company), on 4235 Cheney-Spokane Road, Spokane, WA 99224.
Also, day students on the meal plan who need a packed lunch please sign up in the front office by next Wednesday afternoon. Lunches will not be made for students whose names are not on the list. If you sign up, please pick up your sack lunch at the café on Thursday morning before you leave to go to your project, or ask a friend to pick it up for you. Thank you!

WINTER DRIVING/ATTENDANCE POLICY
SAFETY IS OUR FIRST CONCERN!
Day students are encouraged to stay in the dorm when it is unsafe to travel. In this case, the fee for staying overnight in the dorm will be waived. Please make arrangements with the deans. Students driving during poor road conditions should allow extra driving time.
Even if Liberty School District is closed, we will continue to have classes. Parents will need to evaluate the situation. Our top priority is student safety, but we also don’t want them to miss classes unnecessarily. Liberty often closes due to conditions that do not affect travel to UCA. If Liberty is closed, students’ perfect attendance will not be affected and absences will be excused.
If Liberty School District is on a two-hour delay, we will operate as normal. If you have a special circumstance, please advise us.
Tune in to the radio or TV stations in the morning to have a list of school closings. You may also receive the same information on their websites.
If students have travel emergencies or will be staying home due to road conditions, parents need to call Flor Smith at 245-3614.
Again, you are encouraged to help your student allow extra travel time or have them stay in the dorm when necessary.
We are all praying for a safe winter.
