Dear UCA Family,
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” Matthew 1:23
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 15
The Concert Class Schedule for Thursday, December 15, is attached. Please notice that the 7th or 12:55 period will meet before lunch. Lunch is at 11:31 on Thursday. All dorm students will need to pack a sack supper during lunch in preparation for going to the Christmas Concert at the Fox. Supper will not be served in the cafeteria.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT AT THE FOX – LIVE STREAM
We invite you to join us at the Fox in downtown Spokane for an amazing concert that our students have been preparing for you. It is on Thursday, December 15, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There are no tickets; it is first come first seated. The address is 1001 West Sprague Avenue.
If you are not able to attend, you can enjoy the program via live-streaming. To view it, please go to www.ucaa.org/live; no password is necessary. Please feel free to invite family and friends who want to view the concert.
VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!!!
It is imperative that BEFORE TAKING YOUR STUDENT OR ANY OTHER STUDENT FROM THE CONCERT AT THE FOX, YOU CONTACT A DEAN PERSONALLY! We need to know where our students are and who they are leaving with. There will be a dean at each exit door for you to sign out with. Village student performers/parents must sign out with one of the music department staff before they leave the Fox.
CHRISTMAS BREAK
Christmas Break begins Thursday night, December 15, after the concert. The home-leave buses will depart UCA on Friday, December 16, at 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. (See more information below and bus schedule attached). Classes resume on TUESDAY, JANUARY 3. Dorms open at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017. If you have no other option than to return your student to the dorm before 5:00 p.m., the deans are willing to work with you, but please communicate with them before the break begins.

WINTER DRIVING/ATTENDANCE POLICY
SAFETY IS OUR FIRST CONCERN!
Day students are encouraged to stay in the dorm when it is unsafe to travel. In this case, the fee for staying overnight in the dorm will be waived. Please make arrangements with the deans. Students driving during poor road conditions should allow extra driving time.
Even if Liberty School District is closed, we will continue to have classes. Parents will need to evaluate the situation. Our top priority is student safety, but we also don’t want them to miss classes unnecessarily. Liberty often closes due to conditions that do not affect travel to UCA. If Liberty is closed, students’ perfect attendance will not be affected and absences will be excused.
If Liberty School District is on a two-hour delay, we will operate as normal. If you have a special circumstance, please advise us.
Tune in to the radio or TV stations in the morning to have a list of school closings. You may also receive the same information on their websites.
If students have travel emergencies or will be staying home due to road conditions, parents need to call Flor Smith at 245-3614.
Again, you are encouraged to help your student allow extra travel time or have them stay in the dorm when necessary.
