Track & Field Day

SENIOR COUNTDOWN!
The countdown is on for our Seniors with 33 days until graduation!!  Please take note of the This Week at UCA attached and the “Looking Ahead” section of this email to keep on top of what is going on at UCA.  Our schedule is very busy until the end of the year but also enjoyable.  We continue toward the goal trusting in God’s strength!

TRACK & FIELD DAY
Please see the attached Track & Field Day Schedule.  This is the same as the Home Leave Schedule, so there will be only morning classes and the track and field activities will start in the afternoon.  Lunch and supper will be served up on the field and are provided for day students. The afternoon activities are part of the required school day.

WEEK OF PRAYER
Our Spring Week of Prayer begins on Monday evening, May 7!  Our speaker is Benjie Maxson, who pastors in Modesto, CA.  His theme for the week is “Finding My God”.    The meetings will be at 12:10 and 6:40 p.m.  Day students are not required to attend the evening meeting but we encourage them to stay, as we are sure they will be blessed.  Please pray with us that students and staff will grow closer to Jesus and that lives will be changed.  The schedule and topics are listed in the This Week at UCA attached.

HOPE DAY – DAY STUDENTS
Our last HOPE Day of the year is next Thursday, May 10!  Staff and students will be going out to serve people in the surrounding communities, so there will be no classes or work that day.  Students who need to be picked up and/or dropped off at Yoke’s, or those on the meal plan who need a lunch that day, need to sign up in the front office. The address for Yoke’s Store is 4235 Cheney-Spokane Road, and transportation times will be available next week.

STUDENTS IN HIS SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP
Online applications are now being accepted until May 1, for the 2018 Summer Students In His Service Scholarship. This is a three-way scholarship funded equally by the Upper Columbia Conference Office of Education, the Upper Columbia Conference Adventist Community Services Grant funds and the student’s local church.  Students arrange and log hours volunteering during the summer in approved activities of service to their community. Applications may only be made online at the UCC Education website (www.uccsda.org/Education). The process of approval has changed, and a Church Approval Form must be received by May 15 for the applicant to qualify. Funds are limited, so a limited number of scholarships will be awarded this year.  Recipients will be notified by June 1.

STUDENT SUMMER JOBS
Is your student looking for summer work?  Summer employment is available at UCA to any student who is accepted and planning to attend for the 2018-19 school year.  All positions require motivated workers with strong work ethic, honesty, integrity, a cheerful attitude, and willingness to serve.  There are openings that are only for a few weeks and others last all summer long.  We have positions available in the cafeteria, dorms, farm, IT office, grounds/maintenance, and recruiting.  Transportation and housing are not provided.  For more information, please contact Nancy Starr at (509) 245-3610 or nancy.starr@ucaa.org.
